Where can I download release forms?

Download the photo/video/audio recording release forms using the links on this page. Generally, these forms are used to record people who are not UC faculty, staff, students or affiliated with UC-sponsored programs like 4-H and Master Gardener.

How do I access high-quality UC ANR images for use in my materials?

There is a curated library of production-quality images within the UCOP WebDam account. Anyone in UC ANR is welcome to use these images in their materials. See instructions on accessing WebDam in the Communications Toolkit. Please credit the photographer when you use an image (note: this applies to images taken by UC ANR colleagues as well, not just those in the WebDam).

How do I contact somebody about images that are in the Repository?

There is a link at the bottom of every page of the Repository that says, "Contact Librarian." You will get a response from Evett Kilmartin, the media librarian.

Where can I find free images for unlimited use by UC ANR?

USDA Agricultural Research Service Image Gallery

Must videos be peer reviewed?

Most video programs we produce are not peer reviewed. A program that has an expected lifespan of five years or more and the author plans to have it distributed it through the ANR Catalog is subject to the Peer Review Process prior to production.

What types of video production does Strategic Communications offer?

Captures--taping events that are taking place on or around campuses, or university research sites. This includes faculty and guest speakers, public outreach lectures, panels and symposia. These programs are usually taped with 1 or 2 cameras. Often the speakers use visual aids such as slides, PowerPoint or video and require modest editing before distribution. Usually shot and edited in the same month.

Studio productions--panels, lectures, and interviews that are recorded in a studio or other controlled location and require little editing. Usually shot and edited in the same month.

Documentary--programs incorporating interviews, visual materials, voice over and music. These programs are complex, require more shooting, writing, and editing and take longer to produce--typically 1-3 months.

How-To-- a detailed program teaching a specific technique or subject in 10 to 30 minutes. If peer reviewed and distributed via the ANR Catalog, these highly technical projects usually take at least 6 months.

Outreach or research impact stories-- short, broadcast media-style videos depicting the impact of UC ANR research and programs. These projects take several weeks; timing depends on videographer workload.

What does it cost to have a video program produced?

Fees are charged for video production services. Video production costs range from $500 to $20,000 for most projects or events. Contact a videographer to discuss your individual project and the costs of production. Our professional videographers will provide free consultation services by phone or email. Travel expenses incurred for on-site assistance are recharged to the client.
